From the Chairman: Bill Burrus

The staff has maintained a commitment and earned a reputation for providing the best follow-up eye care services for Alabama’s children. Virtually all organizations working in the field of children’s vision health are now referring their children to Sight Savers because of our reputation for unsurpassed follow-up effort.

Great strides have been made to ensure that children receive the eye care they deserve. All elementary school children now have the opportunity to receive the appropriate level of eye care. Many preschool and all kindergarten and second grade students in Alabama are vision-screened and provided follow-up eye care services by Sight Savers. Many other school children are also referred for these same eye care services. Soon all children with severe visual impairment will have the vision aids they need and we are now beginning to fill the equipment needs of blind children.

We thank our many supporters for the success of Sight Savers and the benefits to the children and their families. We look forward to continuing to work with the community to create another successful year.
